Age of the Android

The year is 1919, and Thomas Edison is up to no good.  Animal Engine brings you an expansive and environmental style to spin an epic American yarn of science, intrigue and love.

Audience members are split between three characters: Edison (the reckless inventor), Fox (the determined reporter), and Anne (the curious android). Following their chosen character through the nooks and crannies of Edison’s famed Menlo Park laboratory, they experience an unforgettable adventure.

This event was made possible in part by the Queens Council funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

Created and performed by Aram Aghazarian, Carrie Brown, Jennifer Harder, Victoria Miller, Tyler Owen Parsons, Timothy McCown Reynolds, Megan Venzin, Bill Weeden, and Nora Williams.  Directed by Karim Muasher.  Additional text by Nick Ryan.

“Writer Nick Ryan’s text shows an inspired grasp of what we know happened and instinct for what we believe could have; the cast co-creates their roles and reactions with 100 percent sincerity and spark; and Karim Muasher’s direction orchestrates the orbits of incident and interplay of identities and contrasts of perspective masterfully.”
